Switchable smart glass is laminated with PDLC(Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal) film, through the function of electric fields, it can fast switch from opaque to transparent status within 0.2 second.
When power on, it will become transparent; when power off it will become opaque.
Now the best transparency of the smart film/glass is around 85%, for those claims that their product transparency reach 90% or higher is untrusted.
But why in some video we saw the switchable glass or smart film is much clear, and some others a little hazy?
Here we list two reasons:
1. The product quality is different, different suppliers have different quality product. Most time you get what you pay for. If the product cost is much lower, most time the quality is lower.
2. The videos shooting environment.
-2.1 If the smart glass/film install in yellow tone environment, then the smart glass/film will look much clear, the yellow tone environment will absorb the haze.
– 2.2 Shooting the video from the dark side environment to the bright side, then the smart glass/film will look much transparent and with little haze. Below is a Schematic diagram:
