Three main installation notice for OYPDLC switchable smart glass
Nowadays, switchable smart glass is highly accepted & used in more and more architecture, mainly for its advanced privacy-protection and switchable-controlled function. Many of us would like to know how to install the switchable smart glass, actually, as the glass is double tempered laminated combination, so the basic protecting, carrying and holding are totally same as the normal tempered glass installation, here are just explain the three mains difference compared with tempered glass installation(Below simply as TGI)
- Wires connection
As a kind of electricity related products, wires could be not avoided for electrical connection. So compared with TGI, it is required 10-15mm space for the wires connection(mostly at top position), this could ensure the wires are well hided at top with frame or ceiling without broken if the glass size are too big, too tight and hard for wires connection.
And in many condition, partition wall is a big size wall which is beyond the maxi size(1800mm*3200mm) of single panel switchable glass, that means the whole wall needs to be separated into several panel. Now comes the question: how to connect the multi panel glass controlled together? Each panel has two wires and should be connect in parallel connection, please see the below wires connection diagram:
- Power suppliers
Before you switch on the glass panel after all wires are connected, please do not forget to check the connection with power suppliers and the position is right with input connects to 110Vor220VAC, output is 65VAC connecting the glass
*NO connection with power suppliers, glass/film connects directly to the 110Vor220VAC
*Wrongly change and connect the input and output position
The two wrong operation above will make irreparable breakdown point damage to the glass or film, check the below pics of the breakdown damage:
Power supplier is very important for the switchable smart glass/film, please make double check and use the exact one sent with the glass/film.
Other relate question: Could I use my own power supplier as long as with the right voltage for input and output? A: Yes, but the stability and warranty is hard for available. Because the power supplier is special design according to the glass/film working performance, which has protection against like sudden power failure, voltage instability etc, so suggest every customer to use the OYPDLC power supplier with the glass and film to get better after-sale service and maintenance, after all, the cost for power supplier are much more cheaper compared with switchable glass/film.
- Silicone sealant
Similar with normal TGI, silicone sealant is essential after placing position well of the glass, actually silicone sealant is the last step of the whole installation for most of the glass. But it is also important to know that for fixing the OYPDLC switchable smart glass, special neutral fast dry silicone sealant must be used. As for the specificity of PDLC film and EVA film interlayer, special required material are used to protect the both interlayers. The special silicone will be sent with each order in enough numbers.
Some will ask, if use other brand the neutral fast dry silicone sealant, is that accepted? A: It is hard to say if this is good or not, as to our other project experience, even some other brand fast dry neutral silicone is used or even mixed used with our special silicone, the corrosion will also happen immediately or after sometime.

Remember, the corrosion to interlayer is also irreparable damage and which is out of warranty of glass/film, please do use the sent special silicone and never use a bit of other brand
